Hiatus and a life saving idea

I have not had many ideas recently. This blog, 100 Pretty Good Ideas, has hit a slump.  I blame Facebook where I spend my time writing long, tightly-reasoned reactions to our politically unjust world, along with snapshots of wacky looking ducks that live in a pond across the street.

So my blog site is officially in hiatus, more or less.  You can look for me over in the FB world.  http://www.facebook.com/charles.kerns

I did have one idea though. Not quite as interesting as my never-get-lost, glow-in-the-dark, genetically modified children idea a while back, but maybe more practical.

My son just did a trip in Alaska and on one of his hikes up there an unhappy bear gave him a surprise and almost a hi-five claw hug.  To slow the bear down, my son tried to look big. That's what all the roadside signs say to do. Luckily he is big, about 6' 5" and just had to puff out his shirt. The bear was impressed and all ended well.

But I was wondering, what if he were only 5'1."  Would he be a bear lunch right now?

This seemed to call for an idea so I headed right over to my blog. I thought of small things that try to look big when somebody wants to make them lunch, like blowfish doing a puff  up.  We never evolved this ability. The only puffing humans do are with cigarettes [not useful against bears] and with the life vests that airlines promise are under our seats. So let's use them. I bet an extra large life vest would impress any bear if you pulled the cord.

I am writing up a patent application for my scare-a-bear, inflatable, save-your-life vest right now. You should be able to order one on TV soon.
